I wrote this in the dead of one winter some time ago while dreaming about the summer to come. I contributed this song to a RPM challenge.
lyrics
On the way to a swimming pool,
saw a brown eyed girl who made me think about
all the happy days with you.
How we use to laugh and how we sang along
very loud and out of tune.
Nothing to fear and nothing to be ashamed about,
there was only me and you.
What I cared about was you and me,
me and you going home.
When I got to 'swimming pool,
I was surprised to see you hanging out
getting tan and looking cool.
Saw you close your eyes with your body on the ground.
Thought of making my own move.
Then I saw a chap who was tall and well around,
sitting there next to you.
Wrap my head around, you and him
he and you going home.
Went down to south of Georgia,
taking myself up to task,
finding the better half of mine
who wont make think of past.
Came across a lady who was drinking pretty fast,
singing "Hallelujah, my time's come at last."
She said: "Do you believe in destiny?"
"No, I don't M'am."
"It's relief!" she said to me, "My name is Anne."
Staring at the corner of the pavement and the wall
came to realization and the beauty of it all.
Change's ever lasting and nothing's made to last
all the empty moment will some day come to pass.
She said to me sarcastically, "Are you my man?"
(I) said with a glee, most cheerfully:
"Yes I am M'am!"
